From a family restaurant founded in 2006 to two beloved menus sharing one home, our story has always been about family, heritage and food made with heart.
Our Family
In 1999, our family came to the United States from Marmarita in Syria’s Valley of Christians. After becoming proud American citizens, we felt called to share the recipes and hospitality of our homeland. In 2006, Elham’s Restaurant was born—named for our mother, Elham, and built through the dedication of our entire family. What began as one family restaurant now continues at 212 Grove Street through Pita + Elham’s Express.
Elham (Our Mom)
Our mother, Elham, is the namesake and heart of the restaurant. Her Syrian recipes, generous spirit and belief that food brings people together shaped everything we built. The new combined concept carries her flavors forward through familiar dishes including grape leaves, hummus, falafel, kabobs and comforting meals over rice.
Wajeb (Our Dad) Aka "Sleepy Dad"
Our father, Wajeb—affectionately known as “Sleepy Dad”—spent years arriving early to bake fresh Syrian bread and help hold the family operation together. His hard work, humor and quiet dedication are woven into Elham’s story, and his example continues to guide the next chapter.
Abdou (son)
Abdou has been part of the business since before the doors opened. Known as “Mr. Fix Everything,” he brings energy, solutions and a genuine love for people. Today, he is leading the next chapter by bringing Pita and Elham’s Express together at 212 Grove Street—two menus, one family and one welcoming home.
Razan (daughter)
Razan is Elham’s right hand and the family’s undisputed Kibbi Master. Her skill, care and consistency have helped preserve the recipes customers have loved for years. As the story continues through Pita + Elham’s Express, her dedication keeps the family’s food and traditions rooted in authenticity.
A New Chapter in a New Castle Landmark
Our home at 212 Grove Street has been serving New Castle long before Pita opened its doors. Built in the 1960s, the building was originally home to the Dog House Diner—a popular 24-hour hot dog shop where generations gathered for a quick meal at nearly any hour. Today, that same building begins another chapter as the home of Pita + Elham’s Express. We’re proud to bring together the history of this local landmark, Pita’s fast-casual favorites and Elham’s family recipes—all under one roof.
